ICC Champions Trophy 2017 - Indian Squad - Experience Over Talent?
After the IPL, the Indian Cricket fans will enjoy one of the most competitive championships of all time, “ICC Champions Trophy 2017”. Many teams will participate in the brutal competition & now BCCI has confirmed that the Indian cricketers will also take part in it. There was too much politics & controversies but at the end, the players that will be playing the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 from the Indian side have been announced. When we came to know that the selectors have not given a chance to many talented players like Suresh Raina, Rishabh Pant & Kuldeep Yadav, we were shocked.
Is The Blue Captain Alright?
We all know that the Indian captain lost his form in the IPL 2017. Virat Kohli has not been able to score much in the Vivo IPL T20 2017 but, the reason of such loss of form is the constant cricket; Virat Kohli has been playing cricket constantly for some time, many players got rest but him. Many of you will say that he got rest when he was injured but it cannot be enough for someone who has been playing different types of formats consequently. It is expected that Chiku (a nickname of Virat Kohli) will improvise his techniques & will get back in his form before the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 starts.
Gabbar is Back!
Yes you have read it right, the gabbar of cricket AKA Shikhar Dhawan has replaced the injured KL Rahul. Even though KL Rahul was in an adequate form, but his injury made the selectors choose Shikhar Dhawan in his place. Shikhar Dhawan has also been playing good cricket & his batting has also been good in the Vivo IPL T20 2017 but he does not have the pace to score fast & such things matter a lot when your first match is against an almost perfect team of Pakistan.
Other Important Changes
The Indian Champions Trophy Squad has been through a big make-over since the last Champions Trophy. The BCCI selectors have given a spot to some experienced & aggressive players like Rohit Sharma, Ravichandran Ashwin & Mohammed Shami. It is true that they have taken a bold & excellent move by giving them a place in the playing 11. The reason explained by BCCI of not choosing some extremely talented players like Rishabh Pant, Dinesh Karthik & Kuldeep Yadav in the Indian Champions Trophy Squad is that they may get nervous on such a big platform & may lose their form on the field.
Indian Squad for Champions Trophy
Virat Kohli(c), Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah, Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Yuvraj Singh, Ajinkya Rahane, Manish Pandey, Kedar Jadhav, MS Dhoni & Hardik Pandya.
Many cricket experts are saying that by giving a place to R Ashwin & Ravindra Jadeja, BCCI may have risked the whole tournament. It might be correct because Ashwin has not played since a long time & Jadeja is also not playing very impressive. It is possible that both of these players will try to prove that they deserved the spot, which could have been given to some other players.
